Keen for a Girls Night Out, minus the hangover? Coastrek – Australia’s iconic team hiking challenge – has added a fun new element to its repertoire of coastal walks with a ‘Twilight 20km’ distance, exploring Australia’s spectacular coastline in a whole new light.
Forget the Friday night after work drinks and make the most of the late afternoon sun with the Twilight 20km starting mid afternoon* and trekking along stunning beach and bush trails on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, the Mornington Peninsula, the Sunshine Coast, the Fleurieu Peninsula and Margaret River with your team of besties or workmates. But it’s not all about the huffing and puffing. Bright tutus, glo sticks, glitter and neon tights plus disco-worthy music to get you dancing in the moonlight are all part of Coastrek’s mission to inject a little fun into your fitness.
Coastrek will continue to offer its signature 60km, 45km, 35km and 30km distances setting off at sunrise or early morning, but Coastrek Founder & CEO, Di Westaway said the Twilight 20km will encourage even more women to experience the joys of hiking in the outdoors:
“We want as many people as possible to embrace the Coastrek experience and the 20 kilometre distance is a little less daunting whilst still remaining an adventure challenge with a twilight twist,” she said.
“Training is still essential – fully supported with a Coastrek 6-12 week training program – and all part of getting our trekkers into a healthy routine of fitness that they will benefit from well beyond the finish line.”
Coastrek will be hiking for healthy hearts in 2023 in support of the Heart Foundation, raising funds for valuable life saving research and programs in the fight against heart disease.
