From giant puffer jackets over retro fleeces to comfy trackies tucked into hiking boots, ‘Gorpcore’ is the outdoor gear-inspired clothing trend that is all about practicality, function and durability. Named after the colloquial term for trail mix “Good Ol’ Raisins and Peanuts”, Gorpcore was defined The Cut way back in 2017, but this winter it has well and truly hit the mainstream. Any trend that lets us wear our hiking gear for a coffee has our tick of approval.
And with our renewed focus to seek the great outdoors during a year of COVID lockdowns and travel restrictions, it looks like Gorpcore is here to stay.
Below are seven Gorpcore trends we love.
Puffer jackets
Winter’s favourite wardrobe staple is back in a big way. Enter, the statement puffer jacket. Whether it’s teamed with thermals and hiking pants for winter adventures, leggings and sneakers for a walk-and-coffee with the girls, or chucked over jeans and a white tee for Friday night drinks at the pub… you simply can’t go wrong.
